Pioneer Village Museum & the Ward County Historical Society invites you to Have a Roaring Good Time at the Great Gatsby
12:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Ward County Historical Society 2005 Burdick Expy E, Minot, North Dakota 58701
The Ward County Historical Society, will host a Great Gatsby-themed event, to kick off the season opener of the Pioneer Village Historical Museum on Saturday, May 19, from 12 to 5 p.m.
The Great Gatsby, a novel by famed author F. Scott Fitzgerald, takes place during the Roaring 20’s. As you may know, Minot was quite alive during the 1920s. Between Prohibition, bootlegging, and other — shall we say, vices — Minot certainly saw a lot. If only the walls of the buildings downtown could talk!
Our Great Gatsby party will include games such as croquet, badminton, cornhole, and giant garden chess and checkers. We will also have a prop photo booth and classic cars. Also, feel free to bring your own blanket for relaxing in the courtyard!
We will be serving pasta and meatballs, American hot dogs with a selection of mustards, potatoes au gratin, vegetables with hollandaise or ranch, deviled eggs, an assortment of chips, and salad. Also, in keeping with the era, we will also be serving Prohibition Era drinks — but only in name, with a creative remix with non-alcoholic material — such as Rickey, French 75, Side Car, Bee’s Knees, Mary Pickford, an Old Fashioned, High Ball, Ward 8, Sazerac, and Teas, as well as modern drinks, soda, water, etc.
Also on site will be special exhibits about the Prohibition Era in Minot, as well as speakeasies, as well as fitting music for the day.
