30 Aug What You Should Know About Norsk Høstfest
The Norsk Høstfest is the largest Scandinavian Festival in North America and one of the largest events in North Dakota every year. In 2019, the festival will take place in Minot from September 25-28.
General admission is $43 for an adult and $5 for ages 7-17. After 4 pm special pricing for general admission drops to $15 for adults and free for ages 7-17.
Great Hall Entertainment
The Great Hall during the Norsk Høstfest will be Pure Scandimonium with all of the entertainers. You can see Chicks with Hits, Daniel O’Donnell, Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Click Black, Charley Pride, Gabriel Iglesias, Terry Fator, and Chicago. You can purchase tickets here. If you do purchase a ticket for a Great Hall concert you also get general admission for the day!
Military Appreciation Day on Saturday, September 28 is sponsored by BNSF. It provides free general admission for military members and their dependents listed on an active-duty military ID.
With a valid student ID general admission, any day of the festival is only $27 with a limit of 2 tickets per college ID.
The Viking Village
Hear the clash of swords hitting chainmail and shields in our Viking battles performed by trained warriors. Learn where iron came from in Scandinavia and see hot iron forged into Viking Age items by blacksmiths. Try your hand at Viking archery with hand-made longbows.
From the Clog Shop to the General Store, unique and fascinating stores are easily found in the International Marketplace. Purchase silver jewelry, Norwegian sweaters, authentic Scandinavian gifts, fine arts, souvenirs, and much more. The handcrafted items you’ll find for sale are like the experiences you’ll have at Høstfest: truly one-of-a-kind!
Indulge in Scandinavian culinary favorites such as Norwegian waffles, Danish aebleskivers, Swedish meatballs, Oofda tacos, and Viking on a Stick or lighter fare like rømmegrøt, lefse and rice pudding. More than 20 food vendors will be present at Norsk Høstfest.
En To Tre
En To Tre means 1, 2, 3 in Norwegian. Sons of Norway is proud to present En To Tre, a taste of Scandinavia. This one-of-a-kind fine dining restaurant is headed by world-class chefs from Norway, the chefs fly to Minot from Norway just to give you the authentic Scandinavian dining experience. Each day, En To Tre will serve a daily Norwegian menu at 11 am and 12:30 pm featuring Scandinavian entrees and dessert. For a more stylish evening, try the 6-course Fine Dining at 5 pm featuring Nordic delicacies.
Høstfest University offers a unique hands-on learning opportunity. Accomplished instructors well recognized in their areas of expertise teach Scandinavian folk art classes such as rosemaling, wood carving, jewelry design, fiber arts and more. Instructors share their skills in a small group classroom setting where you receive personalized assistance and complete a project to take home.
Scandinavian Youth Camp
Join in the fun of exploring Scandinavian culture through stories, songs, dance, and hands-on learning experiences! Children participating in the Scandinavian Youth Camp also perform at Høstfest in scheduled events such as the Troll Beauty Contest, Norwegian Folk Dancers, Swedish Maypole Dancers, and the Troll and Viking Parade.
Besides the entertainers from the Great Hall, there are wonderful performers in every hall all week for free! Bjøro Haaland, Williams & Ree, Mollie B, Neil Diamond Tribute Show, Medora Gospel Experience and the Kentucky Riders are featured in the general admission entertainment.
