22 Feb Where there’s smoke there’s….
Fire School! Unfortunately that phrase hits a little too close to home in Minot today as our firefighters were up battling a blaze in the wee hours of the morning. We are grateful to them and their hard work so that we can rest safely in our beds while they work to protect our community. And our community gets a big boost from firefighters over the next few days.
State Fire School kicks off today in Minot. It is the largest fire training event in North Dakota, providing training opportunities to firefighters from across North Dakota and neighboring states. Nearly 1000 firefighters will be in our community taking part in these classes. Minot is a proud host to this group and provides top-notch training facilities at the ND State Fair Center and the hands on training grounds (HOT site) as well as classrooms at the Grand International and Holiday Inn Riverside.
A quote from Renee Loh, Executive Director of ND Firefighter’s Association: “The North Dakota Firefighter’s Association is looking forward to hosting the 58thannual State Fire School in Minot! NDFA will be assisting several prestigious instructors from the National Fire Academy located in Emmitsburg along with many national and internationally recognized instructors from across the nation and the state of North Dakota. NDFA is dedicated to providing the most effective training so that the North Dakota firefighters are prepared and ready to act when the alarm or siren goes off at the Fire Department that you serve. The North Dakota firefighters are to be commended; please know that these classes are structured so that what you learn can be taken back to your Fire Departments for the benefit of the departments.”
Welcome to Minot State Fire School! We’re happy to have you back in our community.
