The park buildings at the Scandinavian Heritage Park open for the season Friday May 17th, 2024!
Join us for a fun-filled Syttende Mai celebration hosted by the Sons of Norway, Thor Lodge of Minot, at the Scandinavian Heritage Park starting at noon! We’ll kick off with a festive parade, singing our favorite Norwegian songs and waving flags. Afterward, enjoy a delicious lunch featuring hotdogs, potato salad, chips, pickles, and ice cream sundaes in the lower level of the heritage building.
At 1 o’clock, Verla Geinert will demonstrate how to dye items from our backyard, like leaves and trees, to create our own dyes for yarns and fabric. Don’t miss this exciting event—see you there!
Park buildings including the Gol Stave Church will be open for tours as volunteers are able to staff. Inclement weather may impact the schedule.
May 17th is also known as Constitution Day, the national day of Norway, which is an official public holiday observed each year. Among Norwegians, the day is referred to as Syttende Mai (“Seventeenth of May”), Nasjonaldagen (“National Day”), or Grunnlovsdagen (“Constitution Day”)
