Miranda Nichols, owner of Nickel & Dodge, and Melinda Howe, owner and provider at Ascend Wellness, will be discussing their business journeys and answering questions!

Miranda Nichols is an entrepreneur, master esthetician, and licensed cosmetic tattoo artist. She is the owner of Nickel & Dodge, a skincare and lifestyle studio that specializes in cosmetic tattooing, body waxing, brow design, and results driven skincare.

Melinda Howe is the owner and provider at Ascend Wellness. Born and raised in Minot, Melinda began her nursing journey at Minot State University and worked for Trinity Health in the ICU and Criticair Flight Program for several years. Melinda decided to pursue anesthesia as her specialty because of her intense interest in the field. She attended the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences where she earned her Advanced Practice Nursing degree. In addition to her training, Melinda underwent further instruction in ketamine therapy and IV hydration and nutrition. She is also AFMCP certified in Functional Medicine and recently dual certified in Advanced Practice Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

She spent several years gaining invaluable experience at a variety of hospitals and surgical practices across the United States before returning home to the Minot community and opening Ascend Wellness in the fall of 2021 and, more recently, Ascend Wellness FIT Studio. Melinda has a strong interest in working towards root cause exploration while working with patients and combines Holistic and Western medicine methodologies as an Integrative model to primary care.

Start Up Minot is designed to invigorate, encourage and entice entrepreneurs in the Minot region to execute their business idea. The Start Up Minot networking event is held on the second Thursday of every month, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and features new entrepreneur speakers every month.
