34th Annual Spring Honor Dance and Powwow Celebration

The 34th annual Minot State University Spring Honor Dance & Powwow Celebration, is on April 26 and 27 in the Minot State Dome. This is a free and open-to-the-public event.

This year, alongside contest powwow festivities, attendees will enjoy special additions such as appearances by acclaimed author Diane Wilson and a dedication ceremony for Plum River Native Prairie, featuring keynote speaker Ruth Plenty Sweetgrass-She Kills. The event will also reintroduce the Kennedy Bruce (Porcupine Woman) Powwow Program, honoring the late Kennedy Bruce, and offer educational sessions on Friday, April 26.

Dancer and drum registration opens Friday, April 26 at 5 p.m. and closes Saturday, April 27 at 12:30 p.m. Grand Entry times are 7 p.m. on Friday, April 26, and both 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.

Throughout the celebration, visitors can experience the vibrant culture through dance, drumming, and diverse vendors, with proceeds supporting initiatives like honoring graduates and cultural awareness efforts.

Hosted by the MSU Native American Center and Native American Cultural Awareness Club.
